AOPA Ukraine asks for donations for medical supplies

Dear pilots,

There is a war raging in Ukraine, in a small aircraft just three or four hours flying from most European countries.
This is also an issue in our AOPA community. There is an active AOPA in Ukraine and we have been in communication with the President Gennadij Khazan since the beginning of the war.
On the very first day of the war, Russia bombed civilian airfields, among many other targets. Many thousands of people have lost their lives or are wounded, millions of civilians are on the run. We alle know the story.
After more than a month of war, the destruction, especially in the east of the country, cannot yet be estimated. It is enormous.

AOPA-Ukraine president Gennadij Khazan has asked its AOPA partners for assistance, as there is a shortage of medical supplies in Ukraine and across Europe, which are vital for the treatment of gunshot wounds to civilians and soldiers.

AOPA Poland took the lead

In response, AOPA-Poland has been working to procure these medical products:

- Tourniquets that stop blood flow to the extremities,

- CELOX hemostatic bandages and

- first aid kits.

Polish AOPA President Blazej Krupa is in close contact with his Ukrainian colleague Gennadij Khazan. Together they will coordinate the logistical details of the supplies.

Also Switzerland

Our Swiss AOPA friends are also committed to Ukraine, their appeal for donations is already very successful. Board member Luca Milesi, a pharmacist and specialist in medical matters, will oversee the operation to ensure that the money or goods get where they need to go, to the people in need.

Be Ready - Fly Safely Campaign

As the days get longer and the weather improves we look hopefully to the start of the General Aviation flying season. EASA has joined forces with National Authorities across Europe as well as IAOPA EU, associations and clubs to launch the "Be Ready - Fly Safely Campaign" as a community initiative to help pilots, mechanics, flying club managers and everyone else interested in GA talk about how we can prepare for the months ahead and continue positive discussions to improve safety. 

There will be a range of sessions during the course of the 2 weeks covering different stakeholder groups. Join the sessions and discussions. We also encourage you to host your own local events during the campaign period, especially over the weekend 18-20 March - we will be developing translated material in various languages to support local events.

IAOPA EU at AERO Friedrichshafen at Hall A5 

From April 27th to 30th this year, the AERO trade show will take place again in Friedrichshafen for the first time after the two-year interruption caused by COVID. IAOPA will again have a joint stand in Hall A5 this year.
Anyone who wants to visit the show should be reminded that all visitors must register online in advance at aero-expo.com. There are no tickets for sale at the box office due to COVID regulations.

All well-known exhibitors from our industry are expected with many innovative products, and the event programs are again very extensive and exciting, so that a visit to the beautiful Lake Constance will certainly be worthwhile.
